How Electricity is Produced through Solar Energy?

The amount of sunlight that reaches the surface of the earth in an hour and a half is sufficient to meet all of the world's energy needs for a complete year. Solar energy systems either use photovoltaic (PV) panels or mirrors to focus solar radiation to convert sunlight into electrical energy. This power can be converted into electricity, or it can be stored thermally or in batteries.

Electromagnetic Radiations:

Light that comes from the sun is called solar radiation, also referred to as electromagnetic radiation. While the amount of sunshine that falls on every place on Earth varies over the course of a year, not every region on the planet receives the same amount of sunlight. These rays are captured by solar technologies, which transform them into valuable energy sources.

Photovoltaics Cells:

The Photovoltaics cells on a solar panel capture the energy from the sun's rays as it shines on the panel. In reaction to an internal electrical field within the cell, this energy generates electrical charges that move, which results in the flow of electricity.

Concentrated solar-thermal power:

Concentrated solar-thermal power (CSP) systems use mirrors that reflects the sunlight to the receivers to gather solar energy, convert it to heat that can be used to generate electricity or stored for later use. It is mainly utilized in very sizable power plants.

Integrated System:

The use of solar energy technology is not limited to the production of electricity by PV or CSP systems. These solar energy systems must be integrated with various ratios of conventional and alternative renewable energy sources into buildings, commercial buildings, and existing electrical grids.
